Mr. Martinello is a graduate of the University of Waterloo (St. Jerome's College) and Osgoode Hall Law School (York University) in Toronto. Mr. Martinello was called to the bar in 1979, after having articled for the law firm of Del Zotto, Zorzi, & Applebaum, and remained with that firm until 1982, when he joined the firm of Cecil L. Rotenberg Q.C. to attend to the immigration, citizenship, estate and tax planning and business and real estate needs of an international business clientele. After being a senior partner in the firm of Rotenberg and Martinello from 1984 to 1993, he established his own firm of Martinello & Associates in April of 1993.
He is an active member of the Immigration Law and Citizenship Section of the Canadian Bar Association and the Organization of Professional Immigration Consultants, the only such body of its kind in Canada. During his many years of practice, he has travelled extensively to the Orient, including Hong Kong, People's Republic of China, Macau, Taiwan, Philippines and Thailand, Europe, North and Central America, India and the Middle East to meet clients and to give public and private seminars on immigration-related issues. He has assisted the Ontario and Canadian governments and their officers in educating and dialoguing on immigration-related investments, which were a precursor to the Investor program, and the entrepreneur businessperson category. He has actively attended to representations before Canadian and foreign embassies and consulates throughout the world. He continually represents clients before the Citizenship Court and advises on citizenship appeals to the Federal Court of Canada. He maintains an abiding interest and relationship to the political and social structures involved with immigration and citizenship law policy.
He is a registered trademark agent. He has acted for major developers of real estate, acquiring an incisive understanding of the law and business considerations. As well, he has been an instructor in real estate law for the Bar Admission Course of Ontario. His understanding of business activities, income tax and estate planning matters, especially in relation to immigration matters, has led to his active participation in seminars in Asia and the United States where he has advised potential immigrants on business ventures and law in Canada. His expertise has been invaluable to businesses establishing and expanding into Canada and immigrants coming to Canada.
